We don't recommend this method as it yields the lowest quality. However, if you only have a photo of a photo, that's OK—we can still work miracles!

  • Avoid Reflections: Be mindful of window glare.
  • Prevent Distortion: Keep phone perfectly parallel.
  • Quality Check: Ensure it is in sharp focus.

Delivery FAQ

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about safely scanning, packing, and sending your precious memories to our studio.

We highly recommend using Australia Post Registered Mail with tracking. To prevent bending or further damage during transit, place your physical photographs between two pieces of rigid, heavy cardboard and secure them in a tough mailer or padded envelope.
Yes! If you are located in or around Melbourne, you can drop off your photos securely at our Clarinda studio. Drop-offs are strictly by appointment only to ensure we are available to receive and safely store your delicate memories.
For the best possible digital restoration results, please scan your original photograph in full color at a minimum resolution of 600 DPI (Dots Per Inch) for a standard 4x6 photo. Save the final scan as a high-quality JPEG or uncompressed TIFF file. Important: Ensure all "auto-enhance" or "auto-correct" features on your scanner are turned completely off.
While proper flatbed scanning is highly preferred, a smartphone photo can be used as an absolute last resort (for example, if the photo is stuck to glass and cannot fit in a scanner). If you must use a phone, ensure you lay the photo perfectly flat in natural daylight, hold your phone exactly parallel to the image to prevent distortion, and ensure there is no window glare or shadows cast over the image.
Yes. If your photograph is stuck to the glass of a picture frame, do not attempt to peel it off yourself, as this will likely tear the fragile emulsion layer. Please bring the entire photo (glass included) directly to our Melbourne location, or contact us to discuss safe handling before attempting to mail it.
Absolutely. Our restoration process is 100% digital and non-destructive. Your original photos are kept highly secure in our studio while we work on the digitized file, and they will be safely returned to you in the exact same condition you provided them once the project is finished.
