Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about restoring, repairing, and sending your precious memories to our Melbourne studio.

Yes, we can repair almost any type of old, faded, or damaged photograph. Whether your prints are water-damaged, heavily torn, or severely faded by the harsh Australian sun, our professional photo restoration service can breathe life back into them.
Please do not try to peel it off yourself! Peeling it can instantly tear the fragile emulsion layer. Bring the entire frame and glass to us. We use specialised high-res scanning techniques to digitise the image straight through the glass, allowing us to safely restore it digitally without ruining the original.
We restore memories from almost all formats! We offer a dedicated film, negative, and slide scanning service so we can digitize your media at the highest possible resolution before the restoration process begins.
Yes, absolutely. Our expert photo colourising service goes far beyond simple AI filters. We conduct historical research and layer colours by hand to accurately recreate skin tones, military uniforms, and background details, giving you a vibrant and authentic keepsake.
Yes! We utilize advanced AI algorithms alongside our photo upscaling service. This allows us to mathematically increase the resolution of tiny or blurry files, sharpening details so they can be printed beautifully at much larger sizes.
Yes, we are a comprehensive preservation studio. We provide specialized document restoration for fragile historical records, as well as VHS to digital conversion and video enhancement to save your old home movies.
While our artisans can perform miracles, there are rare cases where a photo is completely washed out with zero remaining pigment or detail. However, we offer free assessments. If we determine a photo cannot be saved, you won't be charged a cent.
You have three secure options:

1) Upload online: Send us a high-resolution scan directly via our Contact Page.
2) Mail-In: Send them safely using Australia Post Registered Mail to our Oakleigh address.
3) Drop-Off: Deliver them in person at our Clarinda studio (strictly by appointment only).

Yes, absolutely. If you have access to a flatbed scanner (or scan them at Officeworks), you can upload the files directly through our secure upload form. We recommend scanning at a minimum of 600 DPI for standard photos with all auto-enhancements turned off.
While our physical studio is based in Melbourne (servicing Clarinda, Oakleigh, and surrounding Victoria suburbs), we provide expert photo restoration services Australia-wide. Customers from Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and beyond frequently mail us their cherished photos or upload them digitally.
Once your restoration is complete and approved, we provide a secure digital download link for your high-resolution files. If you provided physical originals, they will be safely returned to you via registered post.
Yes! Keeping digital backups in multiple places (like the Cloud and a USB) is key. For physical display, we highly recommend our museum-quality custom framing service which uses UV-protective glass to ensure your newly restored prints never fade again.
Pricing is based entirely on the extent of the damage. Minor clean-ups start at just $35, while extreme reconstructions for severely damaged heirlooms can range up to $240. We provide a transparent, free quote upfront so there are no surprises, and you only pay when you are completely satisfied.
Our standard turnaround time is typically 48 to 72 hours for minor to moderate restorations. Severely damaged photos or large bulk orders may take 1 to 2 weeks to ensure museum-quality precision.
Yes! We understand that sometimes you need a photo urgently for a funeral, anniversary, or special family event. We offer a priority 24-hour rush service for an additional fee depending on the studio's current workload. Contact us immediately to check availability.
